Michael Horst, PhD, Director, Lancaster General Research Institute

Dr. Horst earned his doctorate degree from Penn State University and a master’s degree from Illinois State University. He is currently enrolled in a second master’s degree program at Penn State University College of Medicine. In addition to Director of the Research Institute, he is also the Director of CME at Lancaster General Hospital. Dr. Horst is also an educational consultant for the Pennsylvania Medical Society, has provided statistical consultation for organizations, taught college business related courses, and published/presented in various forums. His research interests include applied statistics, statistical process control, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and performance improvement.

Angela Anderson, Research Coordinator, Lancaster General Research Institute

Angela earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University. As research coordinator, Angela performs a multitude of tasks such as data preparation and analysis, presentation coordination and design, database creation, oversight of interns and volunteers, grant budget management, and general activities in order to support potential and current studies.

Andrew Coco, MD, MPH, Medical Director, Family Practice Health Research Center

Dr. Coco earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master's degree in public health from Harvard University. In addition to Medical Director, he is an Associate Director, Family Practice Residency at Lancaster General Hospital. Dr. Coco has numerous publications in medical journals and has appointments as: Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Practice, Penn State University School of Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Practice, Temple University School of Medicine. His research interests include gestational diabetes, antibiotic resistance and HIV disease.

Donna Cohen, MD, MPH, Research Associate, Family Practice Health Research Center

Dr. Cohen earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, and completed her family practice residency at Lancaster General Hospital in 2002. During residency she received the Mead Johnson Award for Family Practice Graduate Medicine. Dr. Cohen completed a two-year academic fellowship at Boston University Medical Center following residency. There she developed her research interests in women’s health and health services, which she plans to continue working on through the Health Research Center at Lancaster General Hospital. In addition to working in the Family Practice Health Research Center, she is an Associate Director, Family Practice Residency at Lancaster General Hospital.
