The Lancaster General Research Institute exists to provide research support to all Lancaster General entities. Through the expertise of various members within the Institute, Lancaster General physicians and staff are supported with design and development, data needs, analysis and results. Research conducted focuses on treatment, diagnostic and procedural efficacy in the general hospital and affiliated specialty areas. The Institute also works in conjunction with the Family Medicine Residency Program to provide research opportunities for the advancement of medical education.
Due to a generous endowment to support research, the Louise von Hess Medical Research Institute has been formed under the administration of the Lancaster General Research Institute. This endowment has been specified to support research involving physicians, learning, and community benefit. The branches of the Louise von Hess Research Institute include Family and Community Medicine, Lancaster General Medical Group (LGMG), Community Health & Wellness and Lancaster General Hospital Clinical Lines.
In addition to supporting physician related research, the Institute also provides consultation and analysis support for projects initiated by the Nursing Department, Lancaster General Allied Health entities and the Lancaster General College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
