Hand Therapy

Location: Lancaster General Health Campus and Lancaster General Medical Services at Willow Lakes

Treatment is provided by a certified hand therapist, certified occupational therapist or therapy assistant, or a licensed physical therapist. Each trained therapist is expert in the rehabilitation of hand and upper extremity impairment.

Therapeutic intervention may include:

  • Evaluation to address problems in the areas of range of motion, strength, coordination, sensation and function.
  • Implementation of a treatment program to meet the specific needs of the individual and to maximize recovery.

This program may include:

  •  Splinting to protect the hand or to enhance motion
  •  Pain management
  •  Edema control
  •  Joint and soft tissue mobilization
  •  Coordination/dexterity activities
  •  Strengthening
  •  Sensory re-education and desensitization
  •  Job analysis
To be eligible for treatment, patients need to have a referral by a qualified physician. We strongly recommend that patients check with their insurance providers to make certain that our services will be covered.
