Lancaster General Makes
U.S. News & World Report
Recently Lancaster General was named as one of the 50 Best Hospitals in the United States for Heart and Heart Surgery and for Diabetes Care & Endocrinology by U.S. News & World Report. It was the first time Lancaster General received these particular honors.
Lancaster General was the only hospital in the region to attain these distinctions. Other Pennsylvania hospitals honored for heart care included St. Luke’s Hospital, Lehigh Valley Hospital, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Lehigh Valley Hospital and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania were the only other Pennsylvania hospitals to be recognized for diabetes care.
Our ranking was based on several categories. One-third of the score was based on reputation, another third was based on mortality statistics and the final third was based on hospital volume, nursing proficiency, availability of key technologies and other measures such as Magnet Hospital designation and trauma accreditation.
