Women: Take Action Against Cervical Cancer

Lancaster County has a high incident rate for cervical cancer … a condition that can be treated successfully when caught early through screening. Between 1998 and 2002, there were 111 incidents of cervical cancer reported in Lancaster County.

To reach low-income and under-insured women who may postpone these important screenings, Lancaster General has received a grant to provide free cervical cancer screening and treatment services.

The grant from the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania will provide pap tests with HPV testing and follow-up treatment to women between the ages of 18 and 64 from now until June 30. The goal? Reduce the number of cervical cancer cases in our community.

To schedule a cervical cancer screening as part of the “Women: Take Action Against Cervical Cancer!” initiative, call us at (800) 341-2121. Ephrata residents may schedule a screening directly by calling Lincoln Family Medicine at 733-0660.

If you know someone who may be postponing this important exam due to financial concerns, please let them know that now is the perfect time to set up an appointment.
