Carter's Corner
In Memory of Carter James Brown
at Lancaster General Women and Babies Hospital
What is Carter's Corner?
Carter's Corner is an interactive and child-oriented space that offers children waiting at the hospital during the laboring/delivery process the opportunity to create crafts for moms and new siblings. The area promotes stimulation, creativity and individuality for children of all ages as they prepare their first gifts for mom and baby.
With a diverse choice of crafting options, Carter’s Corner makes families’ experiences at Women and Babies even more special by allowing children to enjoy themselves as they create a unique and personalized gift for their mom and new sibling.
What can kids do at Carter's Corner?
At Carter’s Corner, children can express their creativity and imagination by designing their own craft using an array of general craft materials, or they can personalize a specific, pre-designed craft project. There are various general craft supplies that are openly available to children, as well as “craft kits” that are featured in a “menu” book, along with the necessary supplies and instructions. Carter’s Corner offers children entertaining opportunities that make the entire birthing experience more special for all involved.
Why was Carter's Corner created?
In memory of Carter James Brown, who was born still on July 5, 2005 at Women and Babies Hospital. His older brother, Andrew, loves to make crafts and lovingly made some for Carter in anticipation of his arrival. In providing an area designed for children awaiting a new born, Carter’s Corner will add to the excellent care and support offered at Women and Babies. Best of all, with each craft made for and received by a new baby, Carter’s life will be honored as a new lifetime bond between siblings is born.
Where is Carter's Corner located?
Carter’s Corner is located just off from the main lobby of Lancaster General Women and Babies Hospital in a renovated section connected to the recently constructed café. Visitors will have 24-hour access to the café and Carter’s Corner.
How can I participate?
Carter’s Corner was established by his loving parents, Todd and Megan Brown, and is funded solely by charitable contributions. All contributions are tax deductible and all proceeds received will be used to purchase and maintain supplies on a continuing basis.
Contributions can be made payable to Lancaster General Women & Babies Hospital, with a note on the check memo line for designation to “Carter’s Corner Fund.” Contributions should be mailed to Lancaster General Development Office, P.O.
