Breast Cancer & Lymphedema Support Group
This support group provides emotional and educational support for women at all stages of breast cancer—breast cancer survivors, those who have just been diagnosed and those undergoing treatment, as well as those coping with the challenges of lymphedema. It’s an open forum where women can share their experiences, ask questions and hear from guest speakers and medical experts. A certified oncology registered nurse coordinates the monthly meetings. Menopause Discussion Group
The Menopause Discussion Group is an opportunity for women to share information, concerns, and get answers to questions regarding specific aspects of midlife changes. Each session begins with a 10-15 minute educational portion so participants receive valid and current information on the topic to be discussed. Guest speakers with expertise on a specific topic may be asked to attend. Activities and assignments may be included as a means to facilitate group interaction. New Mothers’/Parents’ Support Group
Parenting a new baby is an exciting and challenging time. Ideas, skills and support from other new parents and experienced behavioral health professionals can be reassuring and helpful. This group provides support and education for parents about what to expect during the newborn phase, as well as discussion and problem solving strategies. This eight-week group is a natural extension of prenatal classes and makes a wonderful baby gift. Postpartum Group Therapy
Twenty to thirty percent of new mothers experience emotional stress during the postpartum period. Proven methods for helping women with postpartum symptoms find relief, include: individual therapy, medication, support groups and group therapy. Talking with other women who are experiencing similar feelings with the support of an empathetic, qualified healthcare professional can help provide a sense of relief and hope for the future. This eight-week support group provides a safe environment for working through concerns of postpartum depression. Diabetes Type I Women’s Support Group
This group provides educational and emotional support for women who take insulin. It’s an open forum for sharing the challenges and triumphs of living with diabetes. A certified diabetes educator facilitates this group, which meets every other month. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November. There is also an insulin pump support group, for men and women, that meets on alternate months.
