Shapedown - Weight Management for Children and Teens
 
The Lancaster General Health Wellness Center recently began offering Shapedown, a nationally-recognized childhood weight management program. Shapedown involves addressing the increasing problem of childhood obesity through a multi-disciplinary, interactive approach. Children (ages 5-17) and parent(s) learn how to make healthy lifestyle choices involving food and activities.

Shapedown enrollment includes:
  • 10 group and/or one-to-one sessions (1.5 hours long, weekly)
  • Involvement of both child and parent(s)/guardian(s)
  • Certified instructors (dietitian, nurse, exercise physiologist)
  • Discussion of healthy eating and physical activity
  • Monitoring of weekly progress relating to food choices and activity
  • Scholarships are available for eligible families.

Participants receive:

  • workbook
  • pedometer (step counter)
  • exercise bands
