Alan J. Hay, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Alan J. Hay joined the Department of Occupational Medicine at Lancaster General Hospital as Associate Medical Director in January, 1996. He was named Medical Director in October, 1997.
Board certified in occupational medicine and family practice, Dr. Hay has twenty years of experience in treating occupational injuries. In addition to injury management, he is a certified Medical Review Officer. Dr. Hay has also been designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as a Senior Aeromedical Examiner.
Prior to joining the Lancaster Health Alliance, he was the Director of Environmental Health & Safety for the DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company, and the Assistant Corporate Medical Director for E. I. DuPont & Company. He is also the former Commander of the 167th Medical Squadron, West Virginia Air National Guard. Dr. Hay retired in August, 2003 from the West Virginia Air National Guard where he served as State Air Surgeon.
Dr. Hay received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, and his Master of Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
John B. Kramer, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. John B. Kramer has been a member of the Department of Occupational Medicine since February, 2002. He is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine.
Before joining our program Dr. Kramer was the on-site Senior Physician for Hercules, Inc., of Wilmington, DE. In addition to treating injured workers, he was responsible for overseeing medical surveillance programs such as hearing conservation and asbestos. Dr. Kramer also established the company ergonomics team and conducted work site assessments making recommendation for change where appropriate. He was responsible for the company wellness program which provided employees the opportunity to attend lectures, take part in health risk appraisals, and participate in weight reduction programs and aerobics classes. He also performed OSHA and company mandated exams, as well as pre-placement and periodic exams.
During his years at E. I. DuPont in Wilmington, DE, Dr. Kramer was the Medical Manager where he served as an on-site physician treating injured workers and managing various medical surveillance programs. Dr. Kramer established a team of company representatives from Human Resources, Benefits, and the Medical Department to oversee short-term disability cases. This group reviewed cases to establish necessity and legitimacy of absences.
Dr. Kramer earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and his Masters in Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a certified Medical Review Officer with experience in managing substance abuse cases. Dr. Kramer is also certified as an Independent Medical Examiner through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.
Dr. Kramer will see patients at the Health Campus office.
