Richard J. Weinstein, MD, MPH, FACOEM, Medical Director
Dr. Weinstein joined the Department of Occupational Medicine in January 2009 as Medical Director. He is a Certified Medical Review Officer (MRO) and a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He graduated from the University of South Alabama School of Medicine with his doctor of medicine and completed his residency in family practice at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. In addition, he earned a Masters of Public Health (MPH), Occupational Medicine, from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. 
 
Dr. Weinstein served as the Director of Clinical Services, Occupational Medicine Services for more than seven years at The Reading Hospital & Medical Center. Dr. Weinstein also served as Medical Director of U.S. Healthworks Medical Group from 1998-2001. From 1995-1998, Dr. Weinstein was a member of Norlanco Medical Associates, a Lancaster General Medical Group practice.

 
Alan J. Hay, MD, MPH

Dr. Alan J. Hay joined the Department of Occupational Medicine at Lancaster General Hospital as Associate Medical Director in January, 1996. He served as Medical Director from October 1997 to January 2009.

Board certified in occupational medicine and family practice, Dr. Hay has 20 years of experience in treating occupational injuries. In addition to injury management, he is a certified Medical Review Officer. Dr. Hay has also been designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as a Senior Aeromedical Examiner.

Prior to joining Lancaster General, he was the Director of Environmental Health & Safety for the DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company, and the Assistant Corporate Medical Director for E. I. DuPont & Company. He is also the former Commander of the 167th Medical Squadron, West Virginia Air National Guard.  Dr. Hay retired in August, 2003 from the West Virginia Air National Guard where he served as State Air Surgeon.

Dr. Hay received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School, and his Master of Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin.  

 
John B. Kramer, MD, MPH

Dr. John B. Kramer has been a member of the Department of Occupational Medicine since February 2002. He is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine.

Before joining our program Dr. Kramer was the on-site Senior Physician for Hercules, Inc., of Wilmington, DE. During his years at E. I. DuPont in Wilmington, DE, Dr. Kramer was the Medical Manager where he served as an on-site physician treating injured workers and managing various medical surveillance programs. Dr. Kramer established a team of company representatives from Human Resources, Benefits, and the Medical Department to oversee short-term disability cases.
 
Dr. Kramer earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and his Masters in Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a certified Medical Review Officer with experience in managing substance abuse cases. Dr. Kramer is also certified as an Independent Medical Examiner through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.  

 
Joseph A. Troncale, MD, FASAM
Dr. Troncale has more than 25 years of clinical experience and joined Lancaster General in January 2009. A member of several specialty boards, Dr. Troncale has extensive experience in addiction medicine and is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. 
 
In addition, Dr. Troncale serves as Medical Director of Caron Treatment Centers in Wernersville. He also has experience within the Lancaster General system. From 1997 through 2001 he was the Medical Director of the Emergency Department, Susquehanna Addictions Center and Twin Rose Primary Healthcare at Lancaster General-Susquehanna Division. From 1994 through 1997 Dr. Troncale was an Associate Director of the Department of Family & Community Medicine and Director of the Family Health Services Clinic at Lancaster General Hospital.

Dr. Troncale graduated with his doctor of medicine from University of South Alabama College of Medicine and completed his internship and family practice residency at the University of South Alabama.
