Special Skin Care Steps
- Keep skin extremely clean. Use a lanolin-based lotion such as Eucerin or Nivea, which have a low pH. (Check with your doctor for other options.)
- Don't wear jewelry or restrictive clothing with elastic wrist bands.
- Avoid excessive heat or sun exposure – no saunas or hot tubs. When in the sun, wear sunscreen and place a cool, wet towel over the extremity.
- Avoid cuts, scratches and puncture wounds from pets, insects, prickly plants, sewing needles, etc.
- Wear gloves while gardening, dishwashing, or participating in activities that could hurt your skin. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasives.
- Do not cut your cuticles and avoid hangnails.
- Use an electric razor for hair removal in the axillary region
