Office Policies & Procedures

HOURS

Monday - Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Appointments may be scheduled by telephone during regular office hours.  Please be prepared to provide the following:

  • Brief description of the purpose of your appointment
  • Temperature (please take before calling)
  • Names of medications
  • Updated immunization records

Please notify the office in advance if you are unable to keep an appointment.

AFTER HOURS/EMERGENCIES

When our office is closed, a physician is on emergency call.

  • Your call to our office will be automatically forwarded to the Medical Bureau.
  • The operator will page physician on-call.
  • If you do not receive a call within 30 minutes, please place another call and alert the Medical Bureau that you have not been contacted.
  • If the physician on-call is unable to see you in our office, another Center physician will evaluate your medical concern in the Lancaster General Emergency Department. Please identify yourself to the Emergency Department as a patient of the North Duke Family Medicine. They will contact the physician who will see you.
  • Remember that most managed care organizations require that you contact the physician on-call to authorize use of emergency room services.

PRESCRIPTIONS

We recommend refilling prescriptions during regular office hours.

If you are calling the office to request a refill by phone, select the Prescription Refill Line and give the following information:

  • Patient’s full name
  • Date of birth
  • Name/Phone  Number & Pharmacy Location
  • Medication (exact spelling and dosage)
  • Special instructions
  • Phone number where we can contact you with questions

Your prescription will be called to your pharmacy within 3 business days.

REFERRALS

Please advise the staff at our office, prior to your appointment, if your insurance company requires pre-authorization and/or referral. Most insurance companies require 5-7 days for approval and authorization by their medical board. Without this approval/authorization, payment for your referral may be denied and charges for your visit or service could be your responsibility.

CHARGES & INSURANCE

A fee schedule for routine procedures and office visits is available. Please address concerns or questions with your physician or the billing coordinator.

Please have your insurance card available with updated billing information at each visit.

Your insurance company requires us to collect your co-payment at the time of your visit. For your convenience, we accept MasterCard and Visa.

Please direct billing questions to Patient Financial Services in the Business Office at Lancaster General Hospital, 544-4953.
