Goals and Objectives

The Neurological Day Treatment team will perform an assessment on admission to identify any problems in function that may have occurred with your brain injury or neurological condition.
The program will coordinate with you and your family to provide a structured, comprehensive, flexible rehabilitation plan that addresses your specific functional goals.  Individual treatment sessions and therapeutic groups will focus on these goals:

  • Safety and independence in activities of daily living
  • Develop and implement a realistic plan to return to work, school and community
  • Improve function in thinking and communication skills and teach methods to compensate if needed
  • Maximize mobility skills and improve accessibility to the environment
  • Assist with emotional and social adjustment to disability and offer methods to manage stress, behavior and personality changes
  • Improve quality of life by encouraging the return to recreational and leisure activities
  • Promote return to previous role in family including addressing problems in the area of household activities, money management, shopping, parenting and utilization of community resources
  • Maximize physical abilities to return to work including lifting, carrying, fine motor, endurance, coordination and safety
  • Educate the patient and family in prevention, precautions, medications, compensatory strategies, and adaptive equipment.  Provide assistance in medical management issues
  • Provide methods for management of vision and sensory problems that effect function and safety
  • Provide family support
  • Provide follow-up and referral to other resources if necessary in order for you to achieve maximum function
