What is the Lancaster General Medical Group?
The Lancaster General Medical Group (LGMG) was established in 1995 by Lancaster General as a multi-specialty network of physicians and mid-level providers.

Specialties include:

• Family Medicine - The specialty of medicine that combines a blend of all specialties, that includes but is not limited to surgeries, obstetrics, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
• Internal Medicine - The specialty of medicine where physicians called internists, focus on adult medicine only.
• Endocrinology - The specialty of medicine focused on the treatment of diseases of glandular organs including diabetes mellitus, thyroid abnormalities, etc.
• Pediatrics - The specialty of medicine focused on the growth, development, and treatment of infants, children and adolescents.
• Hematology - The specialty of medicine focused on the treatment of diseases of the blood and blood forming tissues.
• Neurology
• Oncology - The specialty of medicine focused on the treatment of cancer.
• Rheumatology - The specialty of medicine that deals with diseases of the musculoskeletal system. This includes arthritis and other disorders related to muscles, joints, and bones.
• Adult & Adolescent Psychiatry - The specialty of medicine focused on the treatment and diagnosis of mental illness.

In keeping with Lancaster's nature, the focus of our well trained team of providers is on community based care. LGMG physicians collaborate with other providers to offer highly personalized, compassionate service in settings which are familiar to our patients.

LGMG has grown into a network of 105 physicians and 20 mid-level providers distributed among 16 practices at multiple sites.

Expansion of the LGMG network with additional primary care and specialty service providers is expected to continue well into the future as Lancaster county continues to grow.

• Staged Diabetes Management Program. Since the inception of the program A1C levels have significantly decreased.
• Planing of care management guidelines for hypertension, depression, congestive heart failure, and childhood asthma are in the process of being developed for use by LGMG physicians.
• From the physician office to the diagnostic service, LGMG and Lancaster General are committed to low cost, high quality care for Lancaster county residents.
• Shared computer systems help improve efficiency by allowing LGMG physicians access to diagnostic test results, performed at Lancaster General locations, from their office.
