Day of Dance 2008

Heart Health Highlighted at
2nd Annual Day of Dance

More than 1,000 people joined Lancaster General for an afternoon of dancing, cooking demos and health education and awareness during the second annual Day of Dance event, held Saturday, February 23 at the Health Campus.

The Spirit of Women event featured demonstrations of a number of dancing styles performed by local clubs and professional groups. Showcased dances included traditional dancing, such as ballroom, square and ballet, to more exotic styles like jazz, salsa, African and belly dancing.

More than 300 people learned how to prepare a healthy and delicious meal featuring raspberry balsamic chicken and vegetables, with a low-fat chocolate mousse for dessert. Visitors learned more about the importance of a healthy heart at three interactive “Talk with the Experts” sessions led by doctors talking about heart disease, prevention, treatment and lifestyle enhancement.

Attendees could visit information booths covering a variety of health topics throughout the Health Campus, and 225 people participated in free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and body fat analysis. Nearly 100 Spirit of Women members took advantage of a special VIP parking area and entrance for the event.
