Maternal Obesity Program Now Available to Underinsured Women
Lancaster General’s New Beginnings Weight Management Program for Obese Pregnant Women is now being offered to women who are uninsured or underinsured.
New Beginnings is a diet and physical activity program for overweight women with a Body Mass Index greater than 29, and who have just found out they are pregnant.
Obesity is a worldwide health issue, and maternal obesity is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes including diabetes, preeclampsia and an increase in cesarean rates.
If your weight is not in the healthy range for your height and build, the best way to maintain a healthy weight for you and your baby is develop a healthy pattern of eating and exercising that you can follow throughout your pregnancy and continue for the rest of your life.
