User-friendly self-registration arrives at Lancaster General
Faster, easier registration every time you visit your doctor: That’s the goal of Registration Station, the latest technology coming soon to Lancaster General.
Three pilot projects will begin in June using MediKiosk wireless eClipboard units, which allow patients to self-register.
“Our goal is to get patients to the point of service faster and reduce patient waiting time,” says Tracey Manecke, Patient Access Manager at Lancaster General. “It’s private, secure, and will allow us to process more patients than our traditional methods of registration.”
Currently, patients at the Women & Babies Hospital Diagnostic Imaging for Mammography, at the Health Campus Laboratory and at the Health Campus Diagnostic Imaging can choose which way they wish to register.
After a three-month trial period the option will expand to other departments, and should be available everywhere at Lancaster General by November. Some departments will offer free-standing registration kiosks.
Registration Station doesn’t collect or display clinical data. And if assistance is needed, staff can guide patients through the process.
“The eClipboard is more discreet than face-to-face registration,” she says. “For many patients, that can reduce anxiety they may feel when registering.”
