Day of Dance

Nearly 3,000 enjoy first fun and informative Day of Dance

It was a fun event, but one with an important message for women: Take care of your heart.

Lancaster General’s popular first Day of Dance event attracted nearly 3,000 people to the Lancaster General Health Campus on February 24.

Day of Dance is a nationwide Spirit of Women event, bringing together entertainment and heart health education in a fun and memorable way.

“It was something new for Lancaster County, something different, and something fun,” says Jennifer Dondero, Day of Dance event coordinator. “People got a chance to see and participate in many different dance demonstrations and do something many had never had an opportunity to do before.”

Visitors did more than just watch talented dancers demonstrate their moves with swing, Irish, salsa, square, hula, Latin, folk, smooth or country line dancing. Adventurous participant also took advantage of their opportunity to give those dances a whirl.

They also left with a greater awareness of the importance of heart health. Educational events with heart experts and health screenings were very well received. And the four Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstrations by Doug Kulp, Executive Chef at Lancaster General Hospital, were each presented to a packed house.

The free event attracted the third highest crowd among the 51 Day of Dance events nationwide, far exceeding expectations for its Lancaster General debut.
