Mammogram results you can trust

When it comes to matters involving your health and well-being, quality of care is our top priority.
Of course, that sometimes means waiting a little longer for the most thorough and accurate test results.
Mammography is one area where Lancaster General takes the extra time necessary to provide you with results you can trust.
After your test it takes a few days for our dedicated team of breast care radiologists to carefully review your mammogram to determine if there are any abnormalities or problems with the breasts.
Your results are first reviewed by a specialized radiologist from Lancaster Radiology Associates. Afterward, your screening mammogram is checked by an R2 Image Checker—a computer-aided detection process that provides an extra measure of confidence that the results you receive are accurate. This dual process further improves our ability to detect breast cancer early.
We understand that you’re anxious to hear your results, so once we are confident in our analysis, we respond promptly and provide your healthcare provider with a written report of our findings and recommendations.
Your healthcare provider will contact you if you require a follow-up consultation. You will also receive a
letter in the mail from us explaining our findings.
Screening mammograms are performed for women who have no symptoms of breast cancer. It is recommended that women receive an annual mammogram beginning at age 40.
