Healthwise: Memory Loss Support

Memory Loss Support Group

Lancaster General is offering a free monthly Memory Loss Support Group that provides support, education and networking for people taking care of someone with dementia.

Each month the group addresses a different topic about caregiving. The group also hosts local professionals and provides a time for informal group sharing.

“Families struggle so much with these issues and we want to help them get through all of the phases of the dementia,” says Phyllis Wojtusik, Clinical Manager, Geriatric Associates, a Lancaster General medical practice.

“Their first need is always information and answers to their questions—how to preserve their memories, prolong independence, deal with health issues and determine if it’s the right time to consider a care facility.”

The meetings are facilitated by Shelby Swartley from the Lancaster General Memory Disorders Program and Pam Brubaker, who has facilitated other memory loss groups in the community.

The group meets on the second Monday of every month at the Lancaster General Health Campus, third floor conference room.

To register, call (800) 341-2121.
