Research grant to help maternal obesity
Lancaster General is looking for overweight women who have just found out they are pregnant to participate in a grant-funded pilot project called, New Beginnings Weight Management Program for Obese Pregnant Women.
Obesity is a worldwide health issue, and maternal obesity is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes including diabetes, preeclampsia and an increase in cesarean rates. The pilot program will have two groups —a control group and an intervention group. The intervention group will participate in a diet and physical activity program.
