Why This Family Practice Delivers

It’s old-fashioned, isn’t it? In these days of medical malpractice crisis, with rampant and at times astronomical lawsuits, and rapidly rising insurance premiums, some physicians are being forced to relocate, change their practices or retire early. Additionally, managed care pressures physicians to “churn” as many patients as possible in and out of the door in 10 minute time slots. Finding a family doctor doing obstetrics is sort of a “blast from the past,” a reminder of the days when the town “GP” assisted at the birth for a family, watched that child grow up, and then took care of the next generation. The GP cared for large extended families over years and through generations and was able to get a holistic perspective on their lives. In our practice, we enjoy joining with families in their anticipation and preparation for the birth of their baby. With the family, we experience the thrill at the moment the baby is born into this life. We have the privilege of watching the child grow, and sometimes having their cousins, grandparents, neighbors and friends come to our practice for their care. It is in this way that family practice truly encompasses life’s span from birth to death, from joys to sorrows, from sickness to health. It isn’t easy in today’s society to keep that old time sentiment alive but at our practice we try. If you would like to learn more about our “old-fashioned” family practice approach to obstetrical care, feel free to contact our office and talk to one of our doctors. It would be our privilege to take care of you and your family during this very special time.
