Sleep Disorders Center
(717) 544-5910

The Sleep Disorders Center is on the second floor, suite 206 of the Lancaster General - Kissel Hill Health Center. Upon arriving, the sleep technician who will be conducting your study will greet you.
Our newest sleep center has six state-of-the-art study rooms and designed with all the comforts of home. Each room has a climate/temperature control and a private bathroom with step-in shower.

The sleep study, or polysomnogram, is a combination of several diagnostic tests, that are recorded simultaneously as you are sleep. Brain wave activity or EEG will be recorded by attaching electrodes with adhesives to your scalp. Eye movements and chin muscle activity will also be recorded the same way. Breathing will be monitored by electrodes placed on your chest and abdomen.  Air flow will be monitored with a small temperature gauge near your nose and mouth. The amount of oxygen in your blood will be measured by attaching an adhesive patch to your finger. Leg muscle activity will be measured by attaching the electrode to the calf muscles. *All of these tests are painless and risk-free.

If other special tests are necessary, your physician will discuss them with you.
