Lancaster General Hospital and all of its services are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
JCAHO, a not-for-profit organization, sets the standards by which health care quality is measured. Because its standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry, hospitals committed to providing the highest level of quality care to their patients choose to be evaluated and considered for JCAHO Accreditation.
To earn and maintain accreditation, once every three years LGH undergoes an extensive, weeklong, on-site review conducted by a team of health care professionals representing JCAHO, i.e., physicians, administrators and nurses.
The purpose of the on-site review is to evaluate the hospital’s performance in all areas that affect patient care. Accreditation is awarded based upon how well the hospital meets all 500+ JCAHO Standards. During its last on-site review LGH scored 96 points out of 100.
Through continuously maintaining JCAHO Accreditation and it’s high onsite review scores, LGH demonstrates its compliance to the most stringent standards of performance and it’s commitment to providing the utmost in safe and quality care.
