Lancaster General is committed to educating women about heart disease, risk factors, prevention and heart attack symptoms.

 

That’s why Lancaster General became a HeartCaring-certified hospital. HeartCaring is a national certification program that helps hospitals improve heart health through physician education and community outreach focused on gender-specific cardiac care for women.

 

As a HeartCaring hospital, we educate family practice, OB-GYN and emergency medicine physicians about symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease in women. We also provide in-office tools
that help women make positive, healthy choices to prevent heart disease.

 

 

 

HeartCaring is administered by the Spirit of Women Hospital Network with support from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). The Spirit of Women Hospital Network is a national coalition that inspires health and wellness on a local level using national resources.

 

 

 

Heart Caring is a national certification program by Spirit of Women Hospitals indicating excellence in gender–sensitive cardiovascular education. HeartCaring offers professional education and outreach, clinical excellence and consumer education – all in an effort to identify and treat heart disease and peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in women.

Heartcaring certified hospitals like Lancaster General and participating physicians/OBGYN practices have completed special training, and use set standards acknowledging and practicing a gender based approach to heart disease that focuses on women.
