Parks Partnership Award

LGH-Lancaster County Parks Earn Partnership Award
 
The partnership between Lancaster General Hospital and Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation was recognized by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS) with the Excellence in Programming private/public partnership award for 2008.
 
The partnership was recognized for its work together on community initiatives that include:
 
  • Stroller Walks, where moms and their children meet for a group walk, followed by a program on important health and childcare topics.
  • Safe Kids Family Day, a summer event featuring farm and home safety demonstrations for children ages 7 – 13, and special programs for younger kids. The next one will be held July 12 at Gordonville Fire Company from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Staying in the Game, a fun and educational event for children ages 9 – 14 that promotes musculoskeletal health, activity and safety.
  • The EMS Family Picnic, which recognizes emergency medical workers in the county for their contribution to the community.
 
To qualify for this honor, Lancaster General and Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation demonstrated outstanding quality, innovation, range and value of appeal for its programs. It also received community support and efficiently used resources in development and delivery of these programs.
