Heart Attack Care

Lancaster General certified for outstanding heart attack care

Lancaster General recently became the first hospital in Pennsylvania certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations for Acute Myocardial Infarction (MI) care. Lancaster General’s Heart Failure Program was also certified by the Joint Commission.

Time is critical when treating a patient with acute MI (heart attack). Lancaster General Hospital’s response time to get heart attack patients the treatment they need is faster than the national average.

We have an interdisciplinary team to care for acute MI patients arriving at the Emergency Department by ambulance, assuring prompt attention to a patient’s urgent condition and proper care.

The Joint Commission, formerly JCAHO, is a national organization that evaluates and accredits healthcare facilities for outstanding patient care and service. This recognition is another example of Lancaster General’s commitment to providing excellent patient care.
