CPR Classes
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is not just useful for doctors and nurses. People from all walks of life can use it to help save someone’s life during a cardiovascular emergency. CPR can help restore the circulation of the blood and prevent brain damage caused by lack of oxygen.
The Education & Wellness Center offers a variety of CPR classes that teach basic external cardiac massage, artificial respiration and foreign body obstruction removal (Heimlich maneuver). Upon request, instructors can also teach students how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). An AED is a small device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm for abnormalities and, if necessary, directs the rescuer to deliver a small electrical shock (defibrillation) to help the victim’s heart re-establish an effective rhythm of its own.
Although Infant/Pediatric CPR is the most popular CPR class offered through the Education & Wellness Center, Adult CPR is also available. If preferred, educators can bring a class onsite to an organization, group or business. Prices vary depending on the number of people enrolled.
