Columbia Health Center:
Care for the Community

Columbia Health Center, formerly Lancaster General Susquehanna Division, is committed to providing outpatient healthcare to the residents of western Lancaster County and eastern York County.

“We’re excited about the direction the Columbia Health Center is taking. We believe that residents will appreciate our wide range of outpatient services and hours,” says Thomas Swavely, Manager, Columbia Health Center. “It’s important to have a trusted outpatient healthcare facility close to where people work and live. Columbia Health Center gives people in western Lancaster County a convenient choice for outpatient care.”

Services offered at Columbia Health Center include:
  • Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy
  • Imaging Services (CT, mammography, ultrasound, general radiology)
  • Laboratory Testing (blood draws, drug testing, EKGs, Holter monitors)
  • Specialty Services (consultative services provided by specialists at Columbia Health Center
  • Pulmonary Function Testing

One commitment that will continue is Lancaster General’s support of community health programs.

“In building a Community Health Improvement plan, public input and health research led us to areas where we could affect the most positive changes,” says Alice Yoder, Director of Community Outreach. “While we feel these programs will help meet the healthcare needs of people at all stages of life, we will continue to seek community input and possibly change existing programs or develop new ones to meet their concerns.”

Healthy Beginnings Plus is an example that demonstrates teamwork at its finest. A collaborative effort between Doctors May-Grant Associates, Twin Rose Primary Healthcare and the Healthy Beginnings Plus staff, this award-winning program provides vital prenatal care, support, education and assistance to low-income women who are pregnant.

Like Healthy Beginnings Plus, the Nurse Family Partnership Program is geared to younger adults. Domestic violence screening spans all age groups. Programs for seniors include: stroke screening, peripheral vascular disease and/or abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, blood pressure checks at senior housing facilities, flu and pneumonia vaccinations and Focus on Seniors health talks.

Lancaster General targets adolescents by offering the LifeSkills tobacco education program, by providing an athletic trainer for Columbia High School and by presenting the Mothers and Daughters Growing Together educational program. The ChildProtect immunization program, Children’s Health Insurance Enrollment, KidSight vision screening and lead testing are programs that help younger children.

To accommodate busy schedules, Columbia Health Center is offering expanded hours. Click here for more information about the Columbia Health Center.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department is housed in a separate facility on the corner of Seventh and Chestnut streets, close to the Health Center.
