Heart Healthy Woman resource areas located at both the Lancaster General Health Sciences Library and The Well Spring Library at Lancaster General Health Campus. The Heart Healthy Woman resource areas contain books, videos, and DVD’s on a variety of women’s heart health topics including: healthy diet, heart healthy cookbooks, living with heart disease, heart conditions and treatments, reducing stress, fitness and relaxation, heart disease prevention and healthy aging. Lancaster General Programs and Services

Weight Management - Maintaining a healthy weight can be challenging. L.E.A.R.N, the most thoroughly-tested lifestyle change program available can help you lose weight and keep it off. To register or for more information, call 1-800-341-2121.

Stop Smoking - Quitting smoking can be difficult but our Freedom from Smoking program is a multi-week smoking cessation program that helps people quit smoking for good. Smoking cessation counselors are also available for patients admitted to Lancaster General Hospital and Lancaster General Women & Babies Hospital. Call 1-800-341-2121 for more information.

Diabetes - Diabetes education, classes, assessment and follow-up are available at the LGH Diabetes and Nutrition Center call (717) 544-5923 for more information.

Stress/Relaxation - The Wellness Center offers Stress Management Programs to prevent and ease stress. Programs are research based and incorporate humor, mind/body exercises, and traditional stress management techniques to create a personal plan for stress reduction. To register, call 1-800-341-2121.

Fitness - Mind/Body programs including Heart Healthy Yoga, Tai Chi, Reiki, and Qigong are offered at the Wellness Center. For a schedule of current classes call 1-800-341-2121.

Menopause - Menopause is a different experience for each woman. Menopause classes and certified menopause educators are available to help you understand the changes that occur at menopause. For more information call (717) 544-3138.

Support - A support group for heart patients will be forming this fall. In addition to that, Journaling for Healing is a program where participants uncover the power of expressing themselves through the written word. Participants use creative writing techniques to aid in personal reflection and promote healing on all levels. For more information call 1-800-341-2121.

Family Violence - Is someone you know being hurt? Have they been hit, slapped, kicked, threatened, controlled or called names? Is their partner jealous, demanding, possessive or mean to them? There is help! Call (717) 544-3138.

Women & Heart Disease - Heart Disease is the #1 killer of American women. Are you at risk? The Heart Healthy Woman Program can help. The program provides lectures, educational materials and promotes activities that are designed with your heart in mind.
