The average American gains seven to 10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. For many, it’s simply a matter of giving into the urge to over-indulge during holiday activities and get-togethers. For others, overeating helps ease the stress, which often accompanies the holidays. To help, the Lighten Up Lancaster County Coalition is offering a free six-week course called Maintain Your Weight Over The Holidays.
The program, geared toward helping you make smart food and drink choices, runs from Thanksgiving through the first week of January 2010. Lancaster General Health dietitians offer quick and practical recipes, as well as tips to help you navigate the buffet table wisely during holiday parties. The program also helps you help others by offering gift ideas that promote health and wellness.
