Parent's Guide to Healthy Eating

In response to the state’s requirement for mandatory reporting of children’s Body Mass Index (BMI) in K through 3rd grades beginning in fall 2005, Lancaster General has created an educational guide for parents. A Parent’s Guide for Healthy Eating & Activity provides information on what BMI is and how to determine what a child’s healthy range is, as well as healthy eating and physical activity guidelines for children. A hardcopy of the guide is available through all Lancaster County schools or at the Lancaster General Wellness Center, located on the second floor of Lancaster General Health Campus. Educational presentations by Lancaster General staff can also be scheduled by school districts to help parents learn more about BMI.  Call 717-544-3145 for more information.
