Dear Neighbor,
It is my honor and pleasure to share with you Lancaster General’s Community Benefit Report for fall 2006. Year in and year out, we work to foster the fullest sense of what it means to be a partner in health for the people of Lancaster County. Our efforts include health education and prevention as well as the nationally recognized healthcare we provide. But the truth is, we do much more than this on behalf of the communities we serve.
Lancaster General has always considered our community benefit activities as fundamental to our mission. Now we’ve elevated its importance even more by recognizing it as one of five imperatives in our newly adopted strategic plan. The work we do to advance the health status of Lancaster County, to support community organizations that partner with us on critical health issues, and to assure access to medical services for all people irrespective of their ability to pay are a few examples of the important community benefit work we do every day.
Demonstrating the results of our efforts and the value we bring to the community is a responsibility we take very seriously. It is through reports like this one that we will share with you the outcomes of our efforts and how they benefit individuals as well as the communities of Lancaster at large. As you review the report and reflect on these activities, please share your thoughts with us. We would welcome your input and suggestions. Simply click the “Contact Us” button at the top right of this website.
Lancaster General is dedicated to being by your side – working with and for you to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Thank you for entrusting us as your partner in health.
Yours in good health,
Thomas E. Beeman
