The breastfeeding support program offers comprehensive lactation services ranging from breastfeeding classes for expectant mothers to advice when you are ready to wean your child. Prenatal Breastfeeding Class—Learning to Breastfeed
We all want the best start for our babies and this includes breastfeeding. We will discuss the benefits of breastfeeding, practical how-to information, and emotional and physical effects of nursing on mother and baby. Taught by a registered nurse/lactation consultant, this course is for women and their partners. This is a 2-hour session. Fee: $20 per couple.
Breastfeeding & Returning to Work/School
The lactaction consultant will assist you with your specific plan to continue providing breast milk to your baby while you're at work or school. Topics of discussion include getting out of the house in the morning, working with a child care provider, pumping and storing breast milk, kinds of pumps available and how to safeguard your milk supply. Babies welcome! Fee $10.
Breast Pump Rental
The cost-effective Lancaster General breast pump rental program provides you with a state-of-the-art Medela electric pump and enables your baby to receive breast milk for only pennies a day.
