Breast Care Center

The Breast Care Center at Lancaster General Women & Babies Hospital is the first of its kind in the area, providing a full complement of services for women’s breast health, including educational counseling, mammography, breast cancer treatment and follow-up support. A resource center provides Internet access and contains books, videos and other resources related to breast health. Books and videos may be borrowed, and a computer with Internet access allows you to search for additional information. Call the Breast Care Center at (717) 544-3755 for more information.

Meet our Nurse Navigators

Lancaster General offers oncology nurse navigators to guide patients and families through the often complex information that comes with cancer treatment. These nurses connect patients with community resources, help them establish a support structure with family and friends, and remain by their side throughout their treatment plan to get them through the system and monitor changes in their condition.

“We have nurse navigators dedicated to the care of our breast cancer patients,” says Randall Oyer, MD, Program Director, Lancaster General Cancer Program. “As we take the next steps with our cancer program development, we will add additional nurse navigators to help patients coming to us for treatment of other cancers as well.”

Breast Health Education

It is so important for women to become active participants in their healthcare, and those who work at the Breast Care Center are devoted to helping you tap into the information and resources to improve your breast health. Lancaster General’s certified breast health educators offer classes, provide educational counseling and are available to speak to local civic and social groups.

Early detection is the key to successful treatment of breast cancer.

ALL women—young and old and those with no family history of cancer—must be on the alert.
